When a mouse most likely made a 5kV chiller starter its home at Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy (SIRE), the results were an ARC flash event leading to a damaged starter. Fortunately, due to the quick thinking of our Field Service Technician in Ankeny, IA, the P1 Electrical Testing and Maintenance Team was called in to help.
Due to the specialized capabilities of this P1 team, they were able to transport the damaged starter to P1’s breaker repair shop in Lenexa, KS, and rebuild the complete starter. The talented repair team got the job done, and the chiller starter came back to the customer good as – if not better than – new!
